'Ambulance' trailer: High-octane action amid rocky bond between adoptive brothers
Ahead of its April 8 release, makers of Ambulance released its gripping second trailer. Lasting 2:02 minutes, the clip shows us how Jake Gyllenhaal's "charismatic career criminal" Danny and his adopted brother, war veteran Will Sharp (Yahya Abdul-Mateen II), pull off a bank heist and attempt to escape the law enforcement agencies. Ambulance has been directed and produced by Michael Bay.
Why does this story matter?
Ambulance is the only release for both Abdul-Mateen II and Gyllenhaal this year, so the film doing well will be a good development for both. Also, Bay returns to direction after nearly three years with this film. His last directorial was 6 Underground (2019). When it comes to hits, Bay needs one desperately as three of his latest helmed films were box office bombs.
What does the trailer show us?
Like several of Bay's movies, Ambulance also will be loaded with action, as per the trailer. The highlight of the clip was the Grammy Award-winning song, Sailing by Christopher Cross, which plays in the background as the heavy action sequences are played in front of you. Apart from the two actors, we also see Eiza González as ace EMT Cam Thompson in the trailer.
What do we know of the film?
It seems Ambulance will have the strained relationship between the two brothers as the backdrop. Touted to be a "breakneck thriller," the Hollywood film is co-produced by Bradley J Fischer, James Vanderbilt, William Sherak, and Ian Bryce. This is Bay's seventh production and 15th directorial. Chris Fedak has written its screenplay. Notably, Ambulance is based on a 2005 Danish thriller by the same name.
Upcoming projects of Abdul-Mateen II and Gyllenhaal
Apart from Ambulance, Abdul-Mateen II has several projects in the pipeline. He will reprise his role as Black Manta in Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom. Further, he is attached to star in and produce an FX limited series, Scent of Burnt Flowers. Recently, he signed I Helped Destroy People, an Amazon Studios film. Meanwhile, Gyllenhaal has an untitled Guy Ritchie action-thriller in the making.
