Orion Pictures, operating under Amazon MGM Studios, has announced the release date for their upcoming film, Nickel Boys. According to Deadline, the movie is scheduled to premiere in a limited theatrical release on October 25. This feature film is an adaptation of the Pulitzer Prize-winning eponymous novel by Colson Whitehead. On its release day, Nickel Boys will be competing with Sony's Venom: The Last Dance and Cinedigm's Terrifier 3.

The film adaptation of Nickel Boys is directed by RaMell Ross (known for his documentary Hale County This Morning, This Evening), who also co-wrote the screenplay. The story explores the profound bond between two young Black men navigating life in a harsh Florida reform school. The cast includes notable actors such as Ethan Herisse, Brandon Wilson, Hamish Linklater, Fred Hechinger, Daveed Diggs, and Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor.
Production team and entities behind 'Nickel Boys'
The production team for Nickel Boys includes Dede Gardner and Jeremy Kleiner from Plan B, along with David Levine and Barnes. Other production entities involved in the project are Anonymous Content and Louverture Films. Ross worked with Joslyn Barnes on the screenplay adaptation. This film follows Amazon MGM Studios's previous success with a Black-themed American Fiction film that earned over $21M after winning the Audience Award at TIFF.
