'Alpha': Golshifteh Farahani and Tahar Rahim confirmed as leads
Iranian-French actor Golshifteh Farahani and French actor Tahar Rahim have been announced as the lead stars in Alpha, the upcoming film by acclaimed filmmaker Julia Ducournau. This project marks Ducournau's third venture into feature films, following her critically acclaimed Titane and debut film Raw. The announcement was made by Filmnation and Charades, who are jointly handling sales for the movie.
'Alpha' production details and Cannes Film Festival plans
The production of Alpha is being managed by Eric Altmayer and Nicolas Altmayer from Mandarin & Compagnie, Jean des Forêts and Amélie Jacquis from Petit Film, in collaboration with Jean-Yves Roubin and Cassandre Warnauts from Frakas Productions. Sales for the film are set to initiate at the upcoming Cannes Film Festival. This comes five years after Ducournau made history as the second female director to win the Cannes Palme d'Or for Titane.
Producers and sales companies expressed enthusiasm for 'Alpha'
Filmnation and Charades jointly expressed their excitement for Alpha, describing it as Ducournau's "most personal, profound work yet". The producers added, "Alpha is a new page in Julia Ducournau's corpus that is both very consistent with the previous ones and entirely new in its tone." "To match an exceptional project, it was necessary to transcend conventions, as evidenced by the exceptional combination of producers on one hand and international sales companies on the other."

Farahani is known for her work in projects such as M for Mother and Body of Lies. She gained international acclaim after appearing in Extraction and Extraction 2 and is known to the Indian audience through her performance in The Song of Scorpions, directed by Anup Singh and co-starring Irrfan. Rahim, on the other hand, has credits such as Mary Magdalene,Napoleon, and The Mauritanian.
