'Animal': All we know about Ranbir Kapoor's upcoming flick
Bollywood star Ranbir Kapoor has multiple ventures in the making at the moment. And, one of the most anticipated projects among them is T-Series-backed Sandeep Reddy Vanga-directorial Animal. Originally scheduled for a Dussehra 2022 release, the crime drama is however currently looking at a 2023 Independence Day weekend release. While its plot details are scant, here's all that we know about the ambitious project.
Why does this story matter?
One of the most sought-after actors at present, Kapoor last led a Bollywood production in 2018 (Sanju). Thus, expectations of his upcoming endeavors are rocket high, especially Animal, as it's helmed by Vanga, coming from his Kabir Singh success. Separately, Kapoor has Yash Raj Films' Shamshera awaiting release. He also recently completed the Brahmastra shoot and is working on Luv Ranjan's untitled romantic comedy.
Rashmika Mandanna joined team 'Animal' as female lead
On the auspicious occasion of Ugadi on Saturday, Vanga welcomed actor Rashmika Mandanna onboard Animal. For the longest time, there have been speculations about the female lead which finally came to an end. She will portray a character named Geetanjali in the film. Reportedly, Vanga and producer Bhushan Kumar wanted to try out a fresh pairing and felt the Mandanna-Kapoor jodi will work effortlessly.

Parineeti Chopra no longer part of 'Animal'
With the latest cast addition, the Geetha Govindam actor joins the team of Kapoor, Anil Kapoor, and Bobby Deol. Notably, Mandanna replaced Saina actor Parineeti Chopra in Animal. A few days ago, it was reported that Chopra opted out of the project due to date issues with Imtiaz Ali's Chamkila. Now that the cast is set, shooting is likely to begin by April end.
Currently, Kapoor is undergoing physique training under popular fitness coach
According to reports, Kapoor has a few scenes left to shoot for Ranjan's film. He will be completing the same in April to join the Animal team by May. Vanga will be shooting Anil Kapoor's portions before Kapoor joins. To maintain a fit body that suits both Animal and Ranjan's film, Kapoor is currently undergoing training under popular fitness coach Shivoham aka Dheepesh Bhatt.
Meet the rest of the crew
Coming to the crew, Harshavardhan Rameshwar is involved in the music composition, with Santhana Krishnan taking care of the cinematography. Writer duo Siddharth-Garima is also attached to the much-awaited project. Animal is currently set for a release on August 11, 2023.
