'All We Imagine...' director Payal joins TIME100 Next 2024 list
Payal Kapadia, the acclaimed director of the Cannes-winner All We Imagine As Light, has been named in the prestigious TIME100 Next 2024 list. This recognition by the US-based publication highlights influential personalities from various fields. Kapadia's film made history in May by becoming the first Indian movie to compete at the Cannes Film Festival in three decades. It also won the Grand Prix award at Cannes.
Khurrana's tribute to Kapadia's talent and influence
Actor-singer Ayushmann Khurrana, who was the only Indian to be chosen for the 2023 edition of the TIME100 Impact Awards, expressed his admiration for Kapadia in a note for TIME magazine. He described her as a "trailblazer" and praised her film as a "master class of emotions." Khurrana wrote, "There is a powerful believability to how she portrays the human experience onscreen. Her authenticity and her lens on reality are part of what makes her work so rare."

Kapadia's film 'All We Imagine as Light' hits French theaters
Kapadia's inclusion in the prestigious list coincided with the release of All We Imagine....in French theaters on Wednesday. The Malayalam-Hindi film tells the story of two Kerala nurses living in Mumbai. It is an Indo-French co-production between Chalk and Cheese Films from India and petit chaos from France. It was released in select Kerala cinema halls on September 21 by Rana Daggubati's production house Spirit Media and will soon be released across all major cities in India.
