Burns is known best for writing the screenplay for The Bourne Ultimatum, The Informant!, and Contagion. He also produced An Inconvenient Truth which bagged the Academy Award. However, Burns's path-breaking film as a director is 2019's The Report which starred Adam Driver in the lead role. The title revolved around a secret torture program that was being run inside the CIA.
