The second season of The Great Indian Kapil Show has commenced production with Bollywood star Alia Bhatt and the cast of Jigra. The shoot took place in Mumbai's Film City on Friday. A source told News18, "It is going to be a fun episode." However, the premiere date for both the episode and the new season remains undisclosed. There is a big chance of Bhatt opening the new season.
'TGKS' Season 2 follows a brief hiatus after S1
The Netflix original show, hosted by Kapil Sharma, took a short break after wrapping up its first season earlier this year. The inaugural season of the show featured Bhatt's husband Ranbir Kapoor and mother-in-law Neetu Kapoor as its first guests. During their appearance, Ranbir discussed his experiences growing up with sister Riddhima Kapoor Sahni, mother Neetu, and late father Rishi Kapoor. He also opened up about becoming a father himself in November 2022.

In related news, the film Jigra is scheduled to hit theaters on Dussehra, October 11. The movie features Bhatt and Vedang Raina in lead roles. In anticipation of the film's release, Bhatt has been sharing new posters on social media. She also revealed that she will be portraying Raina's sister in the film. A recently shared poster announced that the teaser for Jigra will be released on September 8 (Sunday).

Meanwhile, Sharma announced the return of The Great Indian Kapil Show last month. In an Instagram post, he wrote, "The Great Indian Kapil Show Season 2 is on the way." He will be joined by Archana Puran Singh, Sunil Grover, Krushna Abhishek, Kiku Sharda, and Rajiv Thakur in the upcoming season.
