Alia to finally work with Sanjay Bhansali: Details here
When Sanjay Leela Bhansali shelved Inshallah, Alia Bhatt faced the maximum brunt. The actress had always expressed her wish to work with Bhansali, so when this happened, she was heartbroken. But looks like luck has given her another chance to collaborate with the director, as she been roped in for his next, Gangubai. According to reports, the movie will hit the floors by mid-October.
'Gangubai' was first offered to Priyanka Chopra, Alia replaced her
Reportedly, Bhansali had promised to make a film with Alia, and he is keen to follow it. So after Inshallah's fiasco, he decided to rope her in for Gangubai, as he finds her suitable for the role. To note, the movie was first offered to Priyanka Chopra, but looks like Bhansali has changed his mind.
'Gangubai' will revolve around a brothel owner of Kamathipura
"Bhansali had committed to working with Alia. He is now discussing a film revolving around a brothel owner of Kamathipura, Gangubai. The film will be an adaptation of a chapter from S Hussain Zaidi's Mafia Queens of Mumbai," a source was quoted as saying.
'Inshallah' was shelved owing to Salman and Bhansali's creative differences
Talking about Inshallah, the movie would have marked Bhansali's first collaboration with Alia. Besides, it'd have also reunited the filmmaker with Salman Khan, after two decades of their last collaboration, Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam. However, the movie was canceled after Salman walked out following a major disagreement with Bhansali. Reportedly, Salman's no kissing policy led to creative differences between him and Bhansali.
'Inshallah' script demanded multiple kissing scenes between Salman and Alia
As per a report published in Bollywood Life, the script of Inshallah demanded several lip-locking scenes between Salman and Alia. However, given Salman's public image, the Bajrangi Bhaijaan actor wasn't comfortable in forgoing his no-kissing policy. And owing to this, he had asked Bhansali to make the relevant changes in the script, but things didn't work out between them.
Am going to work with Bhansali very soon: Alia
Expressing her disappointment over Inshallah being shelved, Alia stated that she was "very excited" about working with both Bhansali and Salman. However, "plans never really go 'as per plan'." "Sometimes things just happen and it's not in your control," Alia added. Meanwhile, during the IIFA Awards, she had dropped hints of collaborating with Bhansali soon. Looks like she was talking about Gangubai.
