Meghna Gulzar recounts how Alia Bhatt came on-board for 'Raazi'
The trailer of Alia Bhatt starrer 'Raazi' garnered unanimous praise upon its release. Alia's Indian spy act piqued the interest of the movie buffs. From the looks of it, director Meghna Gulzar seems to have delivered yet another winner. While talking about the film to a leading daily, Meghna revealed that Alia was her only choice for the role of Sehmat, the protagonist of 'Raazi'.
"Alia did not even read the entire script"
Meghna had approached Alia when the film was still in the scripting stage. "Even before I and Bhavani Iyer (co-writer) had put down a single word, we knew it was Alia." "This is also the first time in her career that Alia agreed to do a film where the script wasn't ready. I gave her a 10-minute narration of the premise," Meghna said.

'Raazi' is slated to hit the screens next month
'Raazi' is based on a novel by Harinder Sikka named 'Calling Sehmat' and also features 'Masaan' fame Vicky Kaushal. Backed by Karan Johar's Dharma Productions, the film is slated to hit the screens on May 11. Meghna has previously directed 'Talvar' starring Irrfan Khan, which went to become a sleeper hit at the box office in 2015.
