'Raazi' becomes second female-centric film to enter Rs. 100 crore club
Alia Bhatt has pulled off an incredible feat. She has become Bollywood's second female actor to carry a film into the coveted Rs. 100 crore club solely on her shoulders. Even though 'Raazi' exceeded expectations from day one itself, not even the most experienced trade experts would have imagined that the film would hit the milestone and that too with such ease.
Kangana Ranaut did it with 'Tanu Weds Manu Returns'
Kangana Ranaut was the first female actor to defy the box office norms. She entered the Rs. 100 crore club with 'Tanu Weds Manu Returns'. The 2015 film did a staggering business of Rs. 150 crore plus. However, 'TWMR' had the benefit of being a sequel to a hit film. But, 'Raazi' didn't have any such advantage and was devoid of commercial trappings too.
'Raazi' currently stands at a total of Rs. 102.50 crore
The spy-thriller continued to pull the audience to the theatres in its third weekend as well. Despite the final match of the Indian Premier League (IPL), 'Raazi' collected a decent Rs. 4.42 crore yesterday and made its way into the much-talked-about club. The Meghna Gulzar directorial now has every chance to dethrone 'Badrinath Ki Dulhania' (Rs. 116.68 crore) as Alia's highest grosser till date.
Taran Adarsh tweeted the film's collection
Fifth Rs. 100 crore grosser of 2018
2018 is turning out to be a great year for Bollywood as 'Raazi' has become the fifth film to enter the Rs. 100 crore club after 'Padmaavat', 'Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety', 'Raid' and 'Baaghi 2'.
