Why Ali Zafar almost rejected 'Mere Brother Ki Dulhan'
What's the story
Pakistani actor-singer Ali Zafar, who has starred in many Hindi films, recently revealed that he almost turned down the offer to star in Ali Abbas Zafar's 2011 film Mere Brother Ki Dulhan.
Speaking to Mashable Middle East, he said he felt like a "kabab mein haddi" (third wheel) between Katrina Kaif and Imran Khan's characters.
However, it was producer Aditya Chopra who finally convinced him otherwise.
Role reconsideration
'Don't think of it like that. Give it a thought...'
Zafar revealed his initial reluctance to take up the role, saying, "I'm playing a boring banker, two people in love, which I can't do."
However, Chopra pushed him to reconsider and read the script again.
"Aditya said, 'Don't think of it like that. Give it a thought, read it again.' So I went back and thought about it," Zafar revealed.
Filming joy
Zafar's experience on the 'Mere Brother Ki Dulhan' set
After Chopra agreed to let Zafar show his character as a "flamboyant, charming guy," the actor agreed to take on the role.
Remembering his experience, he said, "It was a beautiful experience. It was such an amazing experience—Ali Abbas Zafar, his set, Katrina Kaif, Imran Khan...the whole cast...friendship with everyone...fun."
"It was a lot of fun shooting that film. It was very easy for me."
