Yellow-wig, Orange-foundation (again): Alec Baldwin returns as Trump on 'SNL'
Hollywood veteran Alec Baldwin will return on 'Saturday Night Live' to play Donald Trump this upcoming season. The actor had previously portrayed the (in)famous American President in a hilarious light. It appears that Baldwin will don the yellow wig and put on his orange foundation again. He confirmed his return on Friday on James Andrew Miller's 'Origins' podcast. Here's what he said.
The new season is about to start
Baldwin will return to Season 44 of 'Saturday Night Live'. The new season will air on NBC from September 29. The first episode will be hosted by Adam Driver and will feature a guest performance by the popular rapper, Kanye West.
What does Baldwin have to say about his return?
Though Baldwin said he was definitely returning and praised his old and dear friends on the show, he said he was only going to do some parts and not a lot. He said that he loved going on air and when the show was good, everything was amazing. However, referring to his skits as Trump, he said there was a lot of fatigue involved.
Why Baldwin's return to 'SNL' was unsure?
Though Baldwin's return is great news, there were doubts about his part in 'SNL'. This followed his Season 43 March interview. Baldwin had commented that every time he played Trump, it was agonizing and he couldn't do it. Trump himself took a potshot, saying it was more agonizing for viewers. It appears Baldwin is now going to return the comic flavor with something better.
The producer welcomes him back with open arms
The producer of 'SNL', Lorne Michaels, said that Baldwin's return had been a surprise. He first heard Baldwin himself confirm it to someone at the US Open! Baldwin's agent called Lorne later, but he was already on board due to Baldwin's dependability. Lorne's respect and loyalty remained unwavering as he went on to say that no other actor could play Trump as Baldwin did.
