Akshay's 'Sky Force' targets Republic Day 2025
The much-anticipated Akshay Kumar-starrer Sky Force has finally secured a release date. The film, which was initially scheduled to hit theaters on October 2, 2024, will now be released on January 24, 2025, reported Bollywood Hungama on Tuesday. This decision comes after the film's initial release date was postponed due to undisclosed reasons. The new release date aligns with India's Republic Day celebrations, fitting for the film's patriotic theme.
'Sky Force' to be a patriotic entertainer
A source informed Bollywood Hungama about the new release date for Sky Force, stating, "It'll be a Republic Day release and is the right time to be presented to the viewers as it's a patriotic entertainer." The source further added that an official announcement regarding the same will be made soon.
Film's promo was to be attached with 'Stree 2'
Earlier, there were speculations that the promo for Sky Force would be showcased with the Independence Day release, Stree 2. Both films are produced by Jio Studios and Maddock Films. However, following the decision to postpone Sky Force, plans to release the teaser were also shelved.
'Sky Force' marks Kumar's sixth Republic Day release
If the report stands to be true, Sky Force will mark Kumar's sixth film to be released during the Republic Day week. His debut film Saugandh (1991) was a Republic Day release on January 25. Other films that have followed this trend include Elaan (1994), Khakee (2004), Baby (2015), and Airlift (2016), all of which performed well at the box office.
'Sky Force' features Sara Ali Khan, Veer Pahariya, Nimrat Kaur
Apart from Kumar, Sky Force also stars Sara Ali Khan, Veer Pahariya, and Nimrat Kaur. The film is a period aerial action thriller produced by Dinesh Vijan of Maddock Films and Jyoti Deshpande of Jio Studios. It is co-directed by Sandeep Kewlani and Abhishek Kapur.
