'Prithviraj,' produced by YRF, to release on Diwali 2020
Prithviraj Chauhan had repulsed Muhammad of Ghor and his army
For the uninitiated, Prithviraj Chauhan, also popularly known as Rai Pithora from the Chahamana dynasty, was one of the most fearless kings. He had achieved military success against several neighboring Hindu kingdoms, and also repulsed Muhammad of Ghor and his invading army.
'Prithviraj' to highlight the ruler's "valor and daredevilry," says Akshay
Sharing his excitement, Akshay said that the movie will "bring to light the valor and daredevilry" of one of India's most courageous kings. "As a nation, we should always celebrate our heroes and immortalize what they did to propagate the values that Indians lived by," he added. He also mentioned that the big announcement on his birthday "has indeed made it more special."
"Truly an honor that I will be playing this role"
"It is truly an honor that I will be playing this role. Prithviraj was the only person standing in front of a merciless nemesis and the bravery he showed, made him a true Indian hero, an inspiration for generations and a legend," Akshay asserted.
Akshay's 'Prithviraj' to clash with Kangana Ranaut's 'Dhaakad'
Bankrolled by Yash Raj Films, Prithviraj is slated to release on Diwali 2020. Interestingly, Akshay's period drama will be clashing with Kangana Ranaut's "one-of-a-kind" action thriller, Dhaakad. Dhaakad will, reportedly, hit the floors early next year, and will be helmed by Razneesh 'Razy' Ghai, and produced by Sohel Maklai Productions and Asylum Films. It will be shot in India and some foreign locations.
Akshay headed to war with 21 Sikh soldiers in 'Kesari'
Although Prithviraj happens to be Akshay's first historical movie, this isn't the first time that he will be taking the audience back in time. Earlier, he was seen heading a group of 21 Sikh soldiers to a war in Kesari. The movie narrated the courageous story of Battle of Saragarhi, wherein 21 Sikh soldiers of the British Indian Army fought against 10,000 Afghan invaders.
For now, Akshay has several big projects in his kitty
