Akshay-SRK to reunite for Bollywood remake of Malayalam hit film?
For months, there have been speculations about Shah Rukh Khan sharing the screen space with Akshay Kumar. The superstars have been in three films together, but never for a full-fledged role. Recent media reports now suggest that the duo will be collaborating for the Bollywood remake of Malayalam hit movie Kodathi Samaksham Balan Vakeel. Here's all about it.
'Kodathi Samaksham Balan Vakeel' opened to excellent reviews, BO collections
Kodathi Samaksham Balan Vakeel, starring Dileep, Mamta Mohandas, and Priya Anand, was released on February 21 this year and opened to rave reviews. The movie is also faring exceptionally at the box office, which prompted director B. Unnikrishnan to think of a Bollywood remake. In fact, the director stated that Akshay and SRK are likely to be roped in for the Bollywood version.
Film director Unnikrishnan, known for 'Villain,' confirmed the development
"Viacom (the production company) is considering remaking the movie and discussions are in initial stages. We're talking to both Akshay Kumar and Shah Rukh Khan for starring in the movie," Unnikrishnan reportedly told Silverscreen. Unnikrishnan, who started his film career by screenwriting Jalamarmaram in 1999, is known for crime drama Villain, as it was India's first film completely shot in 8K resolution.

Interestingly, Shah Rukh has been looking forward to collaborating with Akshay but their 'timings won't match.' "It will be fun to act with Akshay. I would like to work like Akshay and with him, but our timings won't match," he stated once. The two have shared screen space in three movies, Dil Toh Pagal Hai, Om Shanti Om, Heyy Babyy, but in cameos.
'By the time I start working, Akshay is packing up'
"I go to sleep when Akshay is waking up. By the time I start working, he's packing up and going home. So he can put in more hours of work. I'm a nocturnal person," SRK reasons, talking about why their timings don't match.
Akshay has a busy 2019, SRK announces no new project
Meanwhile, Akshay is gearing up for his first release of 2019, Kesari, which is slated to hit the screens on March 21. Besides, he also has four other projects in his kitty, namely, Good News, Mission Mangal, Housefull 4 and Sooryavanshi. On the other hand, Shah Rukh Khan, whose last release Zero tanked at the box office, is yet to announce his next project.
