Akshay Kumar's 'Sky Force' postponed to January 2025: Report
The release of the much-anticipated movie Sky Force, starring Akshay Kumar, has reportedly been postponed to January 2025. The film, which also features Sara Ali Khan and Nimrat Kaur in key roles, was initially scheduled to hit theaters on October 2, cashing in on the Gandhi Jayanti holiday. However, according to recent reports, the makers have decided to delay the release due to various factors. Here are more details.
'Sky Force' to release around 76th Republic Day
Bollywood Hungama, quoting journalist Rahul Raut, reported that the makers of Sky Force are planning to release the film in January 2025, around the 76th Republic Day (January 26). The movie is set against a patriotic theme, which aligns with the new proposed release date and will help the movie massively at the box office. However, an official confirmation regarding the same is still awaited from the production team.
Reason behind the film's postponement
A source from the exhibition sector previously revealed to Bollywood Hungama that Kumar wanted some time to rejuvenate himself before proceeding with Sky Force. The source said, "The makers want some gap between two releases of Akshay Kumar." Kumar has repeatedly been criticized for overexposure, so this new move may help find the film a better opening than the actor's recent releases like Khel Khel Mein and Sarfira.
'Sky Force' to mark Veer Pahariya's acting debut
Sky Force, an action-packed aerial entertainer, is directed by Abhishek Anil Kapur and Sandeep Kewlani. The film is produced by Maddock Films and Jio Studios. Along with Kumar, Khan, and Kaur, the movie will also mark the acting debut of Veer Pahariya. The plot of Sky Force revolves around a war drama, promising high-octane action sequences. It will tell the true story of "India's first and deadliest airstrike."
'Sky Force' delay paves way for 'Joker 2'
With the alleged postponement of Sky Force, the first weekend of October is now devoid of any Bollywood releases. This opens up a clear path for the Hollywood sequel Joker 2, also known as Joker: Folie à Deux to enjoy a solo release on October 4. The film features Joaquin Phoenix reprising his role as the titular character and Lady Gaga as Harley Quinn.
