Akshay Kumar to start Aanand Rai's 'Raksha Bandhan' in April
After working together on Atrangi Re, Akshay Kumar and director Aanand L Rai have teamed up for a second time for Raksha Bandhan. A fresh report suggests that the movie will go on floors this April and might get a Diwali release. The film was announced by Kumar in August last year. Here are more details on this.
Kumar to shoot for about 40 days, says source
A source told Pinkvilla, "He will be shooting for about 40 to 45 days for this slice of life film, set in the heartland of India." "Akshay plays the role of a caring elder brother to three sisters in the film, which rides on emotion that every Indian can relate to. The tentative shooting date starts from April 15 (sic)," the source added.
'It is sticking to the commitment of Diwali release'
"In fact...it is sticking to the commitment of Diwali release. However, the date might change depending on the release plan of other Akshay Kumar films...and also other Bollywood releases (sic)," the source further informed the publication.
The quickest yes I ever said to a film: Kumar
Kumar had announced the film on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan last year. "A story that touches your heart so deeply...It's the quickest I've signed a film in my career. Dedicating this film, #RakshaBandhan to my sister, Alka & to the most special bond in the world...that of a brother and sister. Thank you @aanandlrai, this one is very special (sic)," he had said.
Meanwhile, 'Atrangi Re's release remains indefinitely postponed
Kumar and Rai's maiden collaboration - Atrangi Re - was shot amid the pandemic and completed in December 2020. The film was originally scheduled to be released on Valentine's Day, but remains indefinitely delayed. Touted to be a romantic drama, the movie also stars Sara Ali Khan and Dhanush along with Kumar. It marks the second collaboration for Dhanush and Rai after Raanjhanaa.
Kumar has a plethora of projects lined up
Kumar is currently shooting for producer Sajid Nadiadwala's Bachchan Pandey, directed by Farhad Samji. He will get back to Mumbai to promote his upcoming cop drama, Sooryavanshi. The film is reportedly slated for release on April 2, 2021. His movies Bell Bottom and Prithviraj will also be out soon. Later on, he will start shooting for filmmaker Jagan Shakti-directorial Mission Lion.
