Akshay Kumar's 'Sarfira' locks OTT debut on Disney+ Hotstar
Sarfira, starring Akshay Kumar in the lead role, is set to make its OTT debut. This Hindi remake of Soorarai Pottru, directed by Sudha Kongara and produced by 2D Entertainment, Abundantia Entertainment, and Cape of Good Films, originally hit theaters on July 12. Following its theatrical run, the film will be available for streaming on Disney+ Hotstar starting October 11, as announced by Kumar himself.
'Sarfira' is a remake of Tamil film 'Soorarai Pottru'
Sarfira is a remake of Kongara's 2020 Tamil film Soorarai Pottru, which was based on GR Gopinath's memoir Simply Fly: A Deccan Odyssey. The original film starred Suriya and Paresh Rawal. In Sarfira, Kumar is supported by actors Radhikka Madan, Rawal, and Seema Biswas in key roles. In the announcement post, Kumar said, "Sarfira is releasing on Disney+ Hotstar on October 11, and I am looking forward to seeing the power of a dream that inspires the world!."

'Sarfira' explores aviation and startup industries
The film follows a man's journey as he faces opposition in his quest to provide low-cost airline tickets. Set against the backdrop of the aviation and startup industries, Sarfira is an inspiring tale that encourages individuals to pursue their dreams despite adversity. Despite a reported budget of around ₹100 crore, the film underperformed at the box office, grossing only ₹26.3 crore domestically and ₹30.02 crore worldwide.
