Any guesses? Akshay reveals his favorite comedy film starring himself
Bollywood star Akshay Kumar recently disclosed his all-time favorite movie starring himself during an exclusive interview with Pinkvilla. The actor, famous for his comedic roles, picked the 2005 film Garam Masala as his top choice. He described the movie, in which he co-starred with John Abraham, as one of his most challenging acting experiences.
'Garam Masala' was a panting experience, says Kumar
Kumar explained, "That's, I think, one of the most toughest films to act in because if you pay attention, I was panting while doing the whole scene because I had to adjust four girls (Rimi Sen, Daisy Bopanna, Neetu Chandra, Nargis Bagheri) at one time. It's a panting experience." His Khel Khel Mein co-star Fardeen Khan added humorously, "The title says it all Garam Masala." Kumar also mentioned that Padosan is another favorite movie of his.
'Garam Masala' plot and inspiration
Garam Masala, directed by Priyadarshan, centers around Kumar's character Makarand 'Mac' Deendayal Chatpatiya who is dating multiple women at the same time. The plot thickens when his friend Shyam 'Sam' Salgaonkar (Abraham) discovers his actions. The film also starred Neha Dhupia and Rajpal Yadav. Interestingly, the movie is based on Priyadarshan's 1985 Malayalam film Boeing Boeing, which is a remake of a 1965 American movie of the same name.
'Khel Khel Mein' ready for release next week
Kumar's next, Khel Khel Mein features a star-studded cast including Ammy Virk, Taapsee Pannu, Vaani Kapoor, Khan, Aditya Seal, and Pragya Jaiswal. A remake of Perfect Strangers, it will be released on August 15, clashing with Vedaa and Stree 2. The movie is helmed by Mudassar Aziz, known for Happy Bhag Jayegi and Pati Patni Aur Woh.
