'Tirangaa' tug-of-war: Akshay Kumar, Nana Patekar both want same title
Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar's upcoming film, tentatively titled Tirangaa, is facing a potential roadblock. Director Mehul Kumar and actor Nana Patekar are reportedly reuniting for another installment of their 1993 hit film Tirangaa. This development could lead to a clash between the two projects, both vying for the same title. The official announcement for Patekar's Tirangaa is expected to be made on Independence Day.
Patekar's 'Tirangaa' to be announced on 78th Independence Day
A source told Times Now that the official announcement for Patekar's Tirangaa will be made on the 78th Independence Day, Thursday. This will mark the fourth collaboration between Patekar and director Mehul, following their successful projects Tirangaa, Krantiveer, and Kohram. The source also revealed that Patekar has already given his approval for the film's subject from London, where he is currently vacationing with his family.
What will happen to Kumar's film?
This announcement puts producer Narendra Hirawat's upcoming film with Kumar in a tricky situation. Hirawat had previously revealed in an exclusive interview with Zoom that Kumar wanted their film to be titled Tirangaa. However, with Mehul's confirmed plans for another Tirangaa installment, it seems unlikely that the title will be relinquished.
Mehul and Hirawat share a close relationship
Despite the potential title clash, Hirawat had previously stated that he and Mehul share a close relationship. He had also mentioned that enforcing the title Tirangaa would be easy as he already holds the rights to it. Now that there is another contender vying for the title, the final decision will be interesting to see.
Patekar and Mehul's 'Tirangaa' was a blockbuster hit
The original Tirangaa, starring Raaj Kumar and Patekar, was released on January 29, 1993. The Hindi film was a commercial success and is remembered for its patriotic theme and memorable performances. It remains to be seen how the new collaboration between Patekar and Mehul will fare at the box office.
