Mammootty, Akhil Akkineni's Telugu film 'Agent' gets August release date
Agent has got a release date! Starring Mammootty and young actor Akhil Akkineni, the Telugu film is slated to hit the cinema halls on August 12 this year. Agent is a spy thriller and will have a patriotic touch, hence it targeting the Independence Day makes sense. For now, it faces no competition at the box office as far as Telugu films are concerned.
How was the announcement made?
While announcing the date, Akkineni wrote online, "Brace yourselves. This one is going to be WILD ! August 12th it is." He also shared a poster along with the announcement. In the image, we see the rear side of a man wearing casuals and holding a rifle in his right hand. A crisis situation forms the background. The blue tint looks appealing.

Mammootty started shooting this film this week
Directed by Surender Reddy, Agent marks Mammootty's return to Telugu cinema after three years. Earlier this week, the Malayalam star started shooting for the Telugu thriller. Makers also shared his first look where we see him sporting an Army uniform and a cap. The image had the text, "The Devil Ruthless Saviour (sic)," written on it, indicating that Mammootty might play the main antagonist.

Vakkantham Vamsi is aboard the film as its screenplay writer. Produced by AK Entertainments and Surender 2 Cinema, Agent has debutante Sakshi Vaidya as its leading lady. As far as the technical crew is concerned, Rasool Ellore Reddy has been signed as the cinematographer, while Naveen Nooli takes care of the editing. It has signed "Hiphop Tamizha" Adhi as the music composer.
What else do we know so far?
Reports suggest its shooting is currently taking place in Hyderabad. Agent marks the first collaboration between Akkineni and Mammootty. Makers had also approached the likes of Malayalam star Mohanlal and Kannada actor Upendra before finalizing Mammootty for the villain's role. The thriller is Akkineni's fifth full-fledged feature film. Separately, Mammootty will next be seen in Puzhu and the fifth installment of CBI.
