'AK 62': Vignesh Shivan to direct Ajith Kumar's next film
Popular Kollywood filmmaker Vignesh Shivan is all set to collaborate with Tamil superstar Ajith Kumar for the first time. Shivan's frequent collaborator Anirudh Ravichander will compose music for the much-awaited project, tentatively titled AK 62. Lyca Productions, which will be bankrolling the venture, announced the news on Friday, stating the other cast and crew details will be announced soon. Here's more about AK 62.
Film to be released next year
"The shooting of the film will commence by the end of the year and release by mid next year. The other cast and crew details will be announced soon," read Lyca Productions' press note. Meanwhile, an elated Shivan tweeted, "Thank U #AjithSir for this greatest opportunity to work with you for the prestigious #AK62 Words can't explain the happiness (sic)."
Is Nayanthara playing the leading lady in 'AK 62'?
While there is no official confirmation yet, reports suggest that lady superstar Nayanthara has been roped in to play AK's romantic interest in the upcoming film. If this is true, we are certain AK 62 will be a blockbuster as all previous Ajith-Nayanthara collaborations—from Billa to Viswasam—have been successful ventures. AK's third collaboration with H Vinoth was announced last month
Meanwhile, it was announced last month that AK will be collaborating with director H Vinoth and producer Boney Kapoor for the third time after Valimai and Nerkonda Paarvai. The character look of the actor was shared by makers when the film, tentatively titled AK 61, was officially announced. Reports suggest the first schedule of AK 61 will be shot in Hyderabad's Ramoji Film City.
Shivan's next film 'Kaathuvaakula Rendu Kaadhal' is awaiting release
On the other hand, Shivan is currently busy with his upcoming film Kaathuvaakula Rendu Kaadhal. With an ensemble of talented actors on board, including Nayanthara, Vijay Sethupathi and Samantha Ruth Prabhu, it is one of the most anticipated films of Kollywood. Kaathuvaakula Rendu Kaadhal is touted to be a rom-com and is set to hit the big screens on April 28.
