Ajith Kumar's 'AK 61' to hit the floors next week?
That Tamil star Ajith Kumar, producer Boney Kapoor, and director H Vinoth are collaborating for their third project, tentatively titled AK 61, is no news. But a recent update suggests the film will start rolling from March 19 in Hyderabad, and its inaugural pooja (that marks the production schedule's commencement) will be held on March 9. AK 61 was officially announced last month.
Here's what we know so far
The pooja might take place at ITC Grand Chola, Chennai, said reports. If rumors are to be believed, the shooting of AK 61 will kickstart in Ramoji Film City, Hyderabad. Touted to be a bank heist story, the film might be a Diwali release this year. So, if that happens, it will be Ajith's second release in 2022, the first being Valimai.
What role does Ajith play in the film?
Netizens also suggested a title for the upcoming film, Vallamai, which means strength. It is also being widely speculated that Ajith will play a negative role in the upcoming project. Last month, reports stated that the film will feature Tabu as well, reuniting the two actors after 22 years. Their last film was Kandukondain Kandukondain (2000), which co-starred Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Mammootty.
Actor's look from the film was revealed recently
While launching AK 61 last month, Kapoor also shared Ajith's look. The actor was seen sporting a white beard and hair. A pair of spectacles completed the look. In his caption, Kapoor wrote, "Prep mode on #AK61," indicating the team had started the groundwork. He previously shared about this venture last September. Hearsay has that massive sets are being constructed in Chennai and Hyderabad.
'Valimai' has already crossed Rs. 200 crore mark
Meanwhile, Ajith, Kapoor, and Vinoth's last venture together, Valimai, is doing good business. Released on February 24, the film has already crossed the Rs. 200 crore mark. The film also featured Huma Qureshi with Kartikeya Gummakonda as the main antagonist. Yuvan Shankar Raja composed its music. In our review, we wrote Valimai sparkles in action sequences but fails when it comes to the story.
