Onam season may witness clash of Tovino Thomas, Mohanlal's films
The upcoming Onam season in September promises excitement for Malayalam Cinema as two highly-anticipated period dramas are eyeing to release on the same day. Tovino Thomas's Ajayante Randam Moshanam and Mohanlal's Barroz will hit the big screens on September 12, per reports. Producer Listin Stephen of Magic Frames Production reportedly confirmed that his next production, Ajayante Randam Moshanam, will coincide with the release of Mohanlal's debut directorial film, Barroz.
Plot details of 'Ajayante Randam Moshanam' and 'Barroz'
Ajayante Randam Moshanam, directed by Jithin Laal, tells the story of characters Maniyan, Kunjikelu, and Ajayan who strive to protect their land's most significant treasure. On the other hand, Barroz is a period fantasy film based on Jijo Punnoose's novel Barroz: Guardian of D'Gama's Treasure. The plot revolves around the character Barroz who has been safeguarding Vasco da Gama's hidden treasure for over four centuries.

Production details and cast of 'Ajayante Randam Moshanam'
Work on the VFX, sound, and music of Ajayante Randam Moshanam is currently in progress. The film features a star-studded cast including Basil Joseph, Aishwarya Rajesh, Krithi Shetty, Surabhi Lakshmi, Jagadish, Aju Varghese, Rohini, Harish Uthaman, Nisthar Sait, and Pramod Shetty. The cinematography is being handled by Jomon T John while Dhibu Ninan Thomas has composed the songs and original score for the film. Further updates about the project are expected soon.

Recently, a behind-the-scenes video was earlier released, featuring Mohanlal directing the film on set and showcasing the extensive production design. Despite setbacks caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, the film Barroz persisted through challenges, undergoing script revisions and cast changes under the guidance of Mohanlal and writer TK Rajeev Kumar. Shot in immersive 3D, the film features music composed by Lydian Nadhaswaram.
