Ajay Devgn has had an impressive year with multiple releases, starting with Shaitaan, followed by Maidaan, Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha, and the recently released Singham Again. Looking ahead, the actor has confirmed in a recent interview with Pinkvilla that several sequels to his popular films are in the works. Devgn mentioned, "This is the time for sequels," signaling that fans can expect more from his iconic franchises soon. Here's a detailed look.
Devgn's upcoming projects and box office success
Devgn revealed that he has an action-packed 18 months ahead with five franchise films in the pipeline. These include De De Pyaar De 2, Raid 2, Son of Sardaar 2, Golmaal 5, and Dhamaal 4. Devgn also shared his thoughts on why sequels are in vogue. He thinks "the audience is prepared to know what they are going to get in film. The characters become relatable and the audience is sure on what they will get on the big screen."
'Drishyam 3' and 'Golmaal 5' in the works
Meanwhile, Mangat and Abhishek Pathak are working on a script for Drishyam 3, in close collaboration with the creators of the original Malayalam Drishyam franchise. Its production will begin once the script is finalized. Devgn is also a part of Shetty's Golmaal franchise, with Golmaal 5 possibly being Shetty's next directorial venture after Singham Again. However, no major updates on this feature film have been released yet.
More about the films in the pipeline
Filmmaker Indra Kumar is gearing up for Dhamaal 4, with the film set to begin production by the end of 2024. Meanwhile, Devgn recently began filming De De Pyaar De 2 in Punjab with Rakul Preet Singh and R Madhavan. Meanwhile, the shoot for Son of Sardaar 2 commenced in August, with reports suggesting Ravi Kishan replacing Sanjay Dutt in the film. Additionally, Devgn's highly-anticipated Raid 2 is slated for release on February 21, 2025.
'Singham Again' marked another milestone for Devgn
Devgn's latest release, Singham Again, has been a box office winner. The film, part of the Singham franchise in Rohit Shetty's cop universe, stars an ensemble cast including Kareena Kapoor Khan, Jackie Shroff, Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh, Arjun Kapoor, and Tiger Shroff. Despite clashing with Anees Bazmee's Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, featuring Kartik Aaryan and Vidya Balan, at the box office this Diwali season, Singham Again performed phenomenally.
