Aishwarya Rai looks amazing in her throwback baby shower pictures
It has been 12 years since Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai got married. But looks like fans still can't get enough of their love story. Recently, pictures from Aishwarya's 2011 baby shower have found their way on social media. In these throwback pictures, we see a heavily-pregnant Aishwarya, with Abhishek standing by her side.
Abhishek and Aishwarya color co-ordinated their attires for the function
The pictures show Aishwarya, who is dressed in a mehendi colored outfit having heavy golden embroidery, sitting on a throne-type chair. Twinning with his wife, Abhishek wore a mehendi colored kurta to mark the occasion. The couple looks gorgeous together, but it is the Guru actor's gesture of fixing his wife's hair and gajra in one of the pictures that is winning hearts.
Aishwarya's mother seen performing rituals at the baby shower
In another picture, Aishwarya's mother Vrinda is seen performing an aarti of the then expecting blue-eyed beauty. Another snap showed the actress' in-laws, Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya, blessing her and Abhishek on the stage, as the diva touches their feet. Notably, the couple was blessed with a baby girl, Aaradhya in November that year.
Abhishek had proposed the actress during 'Guru' premiere
To recall, Aishwarya and Abhishek developed a good bond while shooting for Kajra re in Bunty Aur Babli. However, it was during the shooting of Guru (2007) that love found its way. During Guru's premiere in Toronto, Bachchan Jr. popped the question, to which Aishwarya said yes. Recalling those moments, she had stated that their roka was a sudden and surprising event for her.

"We are South Indians, so I didn't know there's something called a roka ceremony. And suddenly there is this call from their house to ours; 'we're coming'," Aishwarya once revealed. It was a nerve-wracking moment for Aishwarya, especially because her father was out of town.
Bachchans celebrated the engagement with a grand party
Soon after the roka ceremony, the Bachchans celebrated Abhishek and Aishwarya's engagement. It was another surprise for the former Miss World, who got to know about the celebration after reaching Jalsa. "The whole town has arrived, visited us that night. There is this full-on party going on in Jalsa. So it was quite a whirlwind," Aishwarya said as she recalled her engagement party.
Aishwarya's last was 'Fanney Khan'; to feature in Ratnam's next
On the work front, Aishwarya was last seen in Atul Manjrekar's musical comedy Fanney Khan, also starring Anil Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao. However, the film failed to impress both critics and audiences. Earlier, Aishwarya and Abhishek walked out of Anurag Kashyap's Gulab Jamun, over "creative differences." Meanwhile, reports suggest that Aishwarya will soon be seen in her "guru" Mani Ratnam's next, Ponniyin Selvan.
