Now, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, daughter Aaradhya test positive for COVID-19
Actor Aishwarya Rai Bachchan (46) and her daughter Aaradhya (8) have tested positive for the novel coronavirus. Earlier, their first COVID-19 test report had come out negative. This comes a day after Aishwarya's husband and actor, Abhishek Bachchan (44), as well as his father and megastar Amitabh Bachchan (77), were diagnosed with the coronavirus. Here are more details.
Jaya Bachchan tests negative for COVID-19
Both Abhishek and Amitabh are reported to have mild symptoms of the respiratory disease and are currently stable. The father-son duo is admitted to Mumbai's Nanavati Super Speciality Hospital. Meanwhile, Amitabh's wife, actor/politician Jaya Bachchan, has tested negative for COVID-19. Other members of the family, including Amitabh's daughter Shweta Nanda and her children, Agastya Nanda and Navya Naveli also tested negative for the virus.
'Jalsa', 'Janak' sealed, declared containment zones
It is imperative to note that the Bachchans reside in Mumbai, one of the worst-affected Indian cities in the COVID-19 outbreak. The city has so far witnessed 91,745 confirmed coronavirus cases and 5,244 deaths. Meanwhile, three of Bachchans's properties in Mumbai, viz. Jalsa, Janak and Pratiksha have been sealed by the BMC and declared containment zones. The authorities are sanitizing all the three buildings.
Abhishek's co-star Amit Sadh to also undergo COVID-19 test
Amit Sadh, Abhishek's co-star in recently-released web series Breathe: Into The Shadows, will also undergo a mandatory COVID-19 test on Sunday. Notably, both Abhishek and Sadh had been dubbing for the Amazon Prime show, which came out earlier this week. Sadh said in a statement that he is feeling fine, and hoped for the quick recovery of the Bachchan family.
Bollywood, fans pray for the Bachchans
Ever since the news of Bachchan family's ill-health surfaced, prayers and wishes from fellow celebrities as well as fans have been pouring in. Stars, including Akshay Kumar, Priyanka Chopra, Sonam Kapoor, Boney Kapoor and many others wished the family a speedy recovery.
Kiran Kumar, Kanika Kapoor also had coronavirus
Before the Bachchan family, other Bollywood stars who were diagnosed with COVID-19 include veteran actor Kiran Kumar, singer Kanika Kapoor, producer Karim Morani, and his daughters, Zoa and Shaza. They have all since recovered. Meanwhile, the coronavirus cases in India continue to rise sharply. The country has so far reported 8.49 lakh COVID-19 cases and 22,674 fatalities.
