Coldplay's Chris Martin to perform at Grammys: Full lineup unveiled
What's the story
Chris Martin, the lead singer of British band Coldplay, will be performing at the upcoming Grammy Awards ceremony on Sunday (February 2).
The news comes just a week after Coldplay wrapped up their five-concert Music of the Spheres tour in India.
The Recording Academy announced Martin's participation via a social media post on Wednesday.
Other performers for the ceremony have also been announced. Here is the list.
Star-studded lineup
Martin will share the stage with these artists
Martin will be taking the stage with other legendary performers such as Cynthia Erivo, John Legend, Billie Eilish, Shakira, and Stevie Wonder.
The opening performance will include current nominees Yolanda Adams, Wayne Brady, Deborah Cox, Scott Hoying, Angelique Kidjo, and Taj Mahal.
Additionally, six other nominees—Joe Bonamassa, Joyce DiDonato, Béla Fleck, Renée Fleming, Muni Long, and Kelli O'Hara—will also perform.
Grammy-winning contemporary classical composer Kevin Puts is set to participate, too.
Fundraising initiative
Grammy Awards to support Los Angeles wildfire relief
The Recording Academy has announced that this year's Grammy Awards will also double as a fundraiser for the Los Angeles wildfire relief efforts.
The telecast hopes to honor the bravery of first responders and raise funds to help combat the devastating LA wildfires.
Although they initially considered postponing the event or airing it only as a fundraiser, they decided to go ahead with the show as both a celebration and community support platform.
Award contenders
Grammy nominations led by Beyoncé
Beyoncé leads this year's Grammy nominations with a whopping 11 nods, including Album of the Year for Cowboy Carter as well as Record and Song of the Year for Texas Hold 'Em.
Other artists with multiple nominations include Taylor Swift, Charli XCX, Post Malone, Sabrina Carpenter, Kendrick Lamar, and Chappell Roan.
The 67th Annual Grammy Awards ceremony will be held at Peacock Theatre at the LA Live complex in Los Angeles.
