Echoing the producer's sentiments, director David Dhawan said, "Audiences still talk about the film's humor and the joy it brought to families." He feels comedy films are best enjoyed in groups and on the big screen. Originally released in 1999, Biwi No. 1 was the second highest-grossing film of the year. Khan's stylish charm and Sushmita Sen's trendsetting outfits redefined fashion in the late 1990s. It also starred Karisma Kapoor.
