What's the story
Aditya Roy Kapur has officially confirmed his leading role in the upcoming action-fantasy series, Rakt Brahmand: The Bloody Kingdom, reported Hindustan Times.
The confirmation comes after the first schedule of the show's shoot was wrapped up in Mumbai. This is Roy Kapur's second OTT venture after his successful stint in The Night Manager.
The series is created by filmmaker duo Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK (Raj & DK) and will stream on Netflix under the direction of Rahi Anil Barve.
Preparation
Roy Kapur underwent intense training for 'Rakt Brahmand'
To get into the skin of his character, Roy Kapur reportedly underwent three months of rigorous training in sword fighting, weaponry, horse riding, and archery.
Speaking about their lead actor's dedication to the role, Raj and DK said: "At the heart of Rakt Brahmand is a character that demands strength, intensity and a bit of wackiness."
"Aditya brings all of that as the lead. And for his part, he's been training very hard to meet the demands of the character."
Show's vision
'Rakt Brahmand' aims to create an original, fantastical world
The creators of Rakt Brahmand hope to create an original and fantastical world with their show.
"Our goal with this show is to create a world that is both original and evokes the fantastical tales we grew up hearing," Raj and DK shared.
Echoing their excitement, Roy Kapur praised the filmmakers' unique storytelling approach: "I've been a fan of Raj and DK's work...The passion they have for this project is infectious."
Genre comeback
Roy Kapur's return to the action genre with 'Rakt Brahmand'
Rakt Brahmand also marks Roy Kapur's return to the action genre after his 2020 film Malang.
Expressing his excitement about the prospect, he said: "The prep has been intense but one of the most enjoyable perks of being an actor is to be able to pick up new skills and this show has me doing that in spades."
"But possibly even more important than the physical work, there is a huge amount of mental preparation which I've been relishing."
