Cannes Film Festival 2024: Aishwarya, Aditi to attend
The 77th Cannes Film Festival, commencing on May 14, will once again host Bollywood stars Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Aditi Rao Hydari. Representing a prestigious international beauty brand, they will join an array of esteemed guests on the red carpet. Notably, Rai Bachchan has been a regular attendee since her debut in 2002 with Devdas, even serving as a jury member in 2003. The 2024 edition will conclude on May 25.
Rao Hydari is ecstatic about her return
Rao Hydari, who first graced Cannes in 2022, expressed her excitement about her return. She stated, "I strongly advocate that women should confidently embrace their unique selves. Being associated with a brand that has continuously promoted women's empowerment is an honor." On the work front, her recent role as Bibbojaan in the series Heeramandi is earning her significant praise. It has been created by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. Separately, Rai Bachchan was last seen in Ponniyin Selvan: II.
Indian film will compete for Palme d'Or after three decades
This year's lineup is incredibly special for India. Payal Kapadia's film All We Imagine As Light is competing for the coveted Palme d'Or- the festival's highest honor. This selection marks a significant milestone as it is the first Indian film to compete in the 'In Competition' section in three decades. Other Indian entries include The Shameless featuring Mita Vashisht and Tanmay Dhanania; and Santosh stars Shahana Goswami and Sanjay Bishnoi. They both are a part of Un Certain Regard.
