Actor Gehana Vasisth arrested for making porn; claims innocence
Actor Gehana Vasisth, of ALT Balaji's Gandii Baat fame, has been arrested by the Mumbai Police Crime Branch. Her arrest was prompted by a police complaint registered on allegations of forcing women to expose for pornographic movies. The cops are also probing the alleged involvement of other models and production houses in connection with the porn film racket. Here is more about the case.
Vasisth allegedly shot and uploaded pornographic content
The actor is said to be involved in shooting and uploading of pornographic content on her website. She has allegedly shot and uploaded 87 porn videos. The police said many website owners have been luring women by promising them roles in "web series" and then forcing them to act in porn movies. The cops also rescued one girl who got duped in this way.
Vasisth's publicist issues official statement, claims innocence
The actor's publicist Flynn Remedios has since issued a statement claiming she is innocent. The statement read, "Gehana Vasisth is totally innocent. She is not involved in any porn film racket etc. As the producer and director of her company GV Studios, she has only produced and directed films that are permissible in law and at most can be classified or categorized as erotica."
She is being falsely implicated, says publicist
The statement further read, "She is being falsely implicated and trapped or made a victim by vested interests and business competitors who are out to defame her (sic)." "Unfortunately, Mumbai Police, which is otherwise the best police force in the world, has mixed up and clubbed together Gehana's erotica filmmaking work with hard porn and hard porn makers in India (sic)," it added.
Five were arrested earlier this week
The Mumbai Police had recently raided a bungalow in the Madh area of Malad in Mumbai. During the raid, five persons were arrested for making pornographic content. A police officer said there has been a rise in the number of web portals/apps that charge a subscription fee for showing semi-porn movies on their platforms. There are likely to be more arrests in this case.
Who is Gehana Vasisth?
Vasisth, whose real name is Vandana Tiwari, rose to fame after winning the Miss Asia Bikini contest in 2012. She is best known for her role in ALTBalaji's series Gandii Baat. She also played the lead role in Star Plus' show Behenein. The actor has also appeared in films like Luckhnowi Ishq, Daal Mein Kuch Kaala Hai, among some others.
