Sonakshi Sinha in legal soup; non-bailable warrant issued against actor
Bollywood actor Sonakshi Sinha has found herself in a legal soup. A court in Uttar Pradesh's Moradabad has reportedly issued a non-bailable warrant against the Lootera star. This is related to a 2019 fraud case, in which Sinha was accused of cheating, criminal conspiracy, and breach of trust. Now, she has to appear in the Moradabad court next month. Here's what went down.
This is what happened in 2019
As per reports, Moradabad-based event organizer Pramod Sharma had invited the Dabangg actor to an event in Delhi as the chief guest in 2019. For that appearance, Sinha was paid Rs. 28L in advance (some reports suggest the amount was Rs. 37L). On the day of the program, however, Sinha's team apparently demanded a schedule change; when the organizers refused, she skipped the event.
Sinha's manager reportedly refused to return advance payment
According to Sharma, he repeatedly tried to retrieve the advance payment from Sinha's manager, who refused to return the money. It was then that he filed a case of fraud. Sinha had reportedly traveled to Moradabad to record her statement earlier. But her continuous absence thereafter led the court to send out the recent warrant. She is yet to comment on the matter.
Sinha has to appear before court on April 25
While we do not know Sinha's stand on the case, for now, she will have to appear before the Moradabad court on April 25. More details are likely to come out then. To recall, a bailable warrant in a fraud case was issued against another Bollywood actor, Ameesha Patel, last December. This was related to a Rs. 32.25L check bounce case.
Sinha has 'Kakuda', 'Double XL', 'Rowdy Rathore' sequel in store
On the work front, Sinha has horror-comedy, Kakuda, coming up. In this film, she will be sharing screen space with Riteish Deshmukh and Saqib Saleem. Moreover, she will be collaborating with Saleem's sister and actor Huma Qureshi in Double XL. She will also be part of Rowdy Rathore's sequel. The actor recently returned from Dubai from Salman Khan's Da-bangg Concert.
