Abhishek Trimukhe is an IPS officer of the 2007 batch who is serving as the Deputy Inspector General of Police in the State Reserve Police Force (SRPF) in Maharashtra as of 2021. He also served as the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Zone IX, Bandra in Mumbai. He first made headlines during Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s suicide case, as the case was first handled by the Bandra Police. He was the one who declared that the actor had died by suicide. In February 2021, he filed a defamation case against Republic TV editor-in-chief Arnab Goswami, his wife, and co-director Samyabrata Goswami, and the ARG Outlier Media group that runs the channel for making derogatory remarks against him. During the live discussion in its panel, the channel had accused Trimukhe of keeping in touch with Rhea Chakraborty, the main accused in the Sushant Singh Rajput suicide case, during the investigation. In March 2018, the Bombay High Court had issued an inquiry against him for wrongfully arresting and holding lawyer Rizwan Siddiqui in the call data records (CDRs) case regarding Niwazuddin Siddiqui’s wife Aaliya Siddiqui. In August 2018, the Supreme Court removed all charges against Trimukhe. In August 2021, he was promoted to the position of DIG at SRPF.
