After 8 years, Abhi-Ash to do a movie together
Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai finally agreed to do 'Gulab Jamun', Anurag Kashyap's movie, after hesitating for months. In an interview, Ms Bachchan said they have agreed to do a project together after 8 years because the script excited them as individual actors. In fact, it was Aishwarya who nudged Abhishek to join, she revealed. Here's more about this.
Dozens of scripts later, Abhi-Ash finally found the perfect one
In the past, many directors had tried to sign Abhishek and Aishwarya together for a movie. However, the couple was always skeptical about taking up offers. Some scripts did interest them, but weren't exciting enough for them to take up the roles. It seems Sarvesh Mewara's directorial struck a chord with them. They felt the script would be a perfect fit for them.
It's a beautiful script, we fit perfectly, says Aishwarya
"After the hiatus, he (AB) returned with 'Manmarziyaan', which coincidentally is directed by Anurag Kashyap. That's when the chatter around 'Gulab Jamun' began again, and we finally came on board. It is a beautiful script, and we fit the narrative perfectly," Aishwarya said.
We saw them together in Mani Ratnam's film in 2010
Mani Ratnam's 2010 release 'Raavan', was the first time Abhishek and Aishwarya appeared together as a married couple, three years after tying the knot. The film garnered poor reviews and poorer box-office collections, despite a worldwide release in multiple languages. Perhaps that would have made the actors skeptical to work together.
Meanwhile, Abhishek and Aishwarya are keeping busy with different projects
The news of Bollywood's power couple appearing together in a film might be celebratory for the fans, but both the actors are working on their own projects right now. Abhishek's next with Anurag Kashyap titled 'Manmarziyaan' will release on September 14. Meanwhile, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan's 'Fanney Khan' which also stars Anil Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao will hit the screens on August 3.
