Renowned singer Udit Narayan recently sparked controversy after a video of him kissing female fans during a performance went viral.
The incident occurred while he was singing Tip Tip Barsa Paani and fans came to him for selfies.
While some netizens criticized him calling his actions "disgusting," others defended Narayan, saying the women had approached him willingly.

Defense stance
'Udit is a superstar singer...': Bhattacharya
Defending Narayan, Bhattacharya, "Udit is a superstar singer. And episodes like this keep happening to us, singers, all the time."
He went on to add that such things are normal for singers when they are not well-protected by security personnel.
"If we aren't properly guarded or surrounded by bouncers, people tear our clothes apart," he further noted while defending Narayan's actions.
Past experience
Bhattacharya recalled a similar incident from his past
Bhattacharya also shared a personal experience of a similar incident that happened during one of his international shows.
He recalled, "When I was relatively new in the industry, during a concert in South Africa, four or five girls kissed my cheek so intensely that I couldn't even go back on stage."
"And all of this happened right in front of Lata Mangeshkar ji. I had lipstick marks on my cheeks," he added.

Bhattacharya also added that Narayan's wife Deepa Gahatraj is often a part of his team and it's unfair to blame him for exploiting his female fans.
"He's Udit Narayan! Ladkiyaan unke peeche padhi thi. He didn't pull anyone close to him."
"I'm sure that every time Udit performs, his wife accompanies him as a co-singer. Let him enjoy his success! He's a romantic singer," he said.
