Bollywood actor Abhay Deol is set to make his Hollywood debut with the upcoming romantic comedy, Don't You Be My Neighbor!. The film will see the 48-year-old Indian actor sharing screen space with Australian actor Natasha Bassett, known for her roles in Baz Luhrmann's Elvis and 2017's Britney Ever After. Directed by Harry Grewal, the movie will explore the unconventional relationship between two contrasting characters.
Deol expressed excitement about the project on Instagram
Deol took to Instagram to share his enthusiasm for the project and stated: "Very excited to announce this project, this script took me back to the late 80's and early 90's era of the rom-com." "Excited to work with the lovely and talented @natashabassett and director Harry Grewal, (sic)," he concluded. He also added hashtags indicating his gratitude and anticipation for the new venture. Notably, Deol was last seen in Netflix's Trial by Fire.
Film to commence shooting next month
Per a report by Deadline, the film's plot revolves around the unlikely relationship between characters Jay (Deol) and Emily (Bassett), who have contrasting views on love and life. Their differing beliefs, perspectives, and life experiences will challenge them to question their preconceptions and embrace unexpected possibilities. Principal photography for the film is scheduled to begin next month in Seattle, US, reportedly.
