Box office collection: Fahadh Faasil's 'Aavesham' surpasses 'Varshangalkku Shesham'
The Malayalam film industry's successful run in 2024 continues with Jithu Madhavan's Aavesham, featuring Fahadh Faasil, which is outperforming Vineeth Sreenivasan's Varshangalkku Shesham, starring Dhyan Sreenivasan and Pranav Mohanlal. Both films were released on April 11 during the festive Eid-Vishu season. Despite their contrasting genres, both films have been significant hits, but Aavesham has managed to amass higher box office collections, domestically and internationally.
The fight is quite neck-to-neck
According to industry tracker Sacnilk, Aavesham has outshone Varshangalkku Shesham by approximately ₹3 crore. The former amassed an India nett collection of ₹16 crore within four days of its release, while the latter's domestic nett currently stands at ₹13.3 crore. Both films achieved their highest single-day nett collection in India on April 14, with Aavesham raking in ₹4.75 crore and Varshangalkku Shesham earning ₹4.1 crore.

Globally, Aavesham has grossed ₹33 crore, outpacing Varshangalkku Shesham, which collected ₹30.65 crore. In Kerala alone, Aavesham led with earnings of ₹12.18 crore in four days, as reported by local industry tracker What The Fuss. The film attracted over eight lakh viewers across more than 3,000 shows, achieving an overall occupancy rate of 84.61% compared to Varshangalkku Shesham's rate of 78.16%.
