Here's what Aanand L. Rai said on 'Zero' debacle
Shah Rukh Khan's first collaboration with revered director Aanand L. Rai, Zero, tanked at the box office. The movie struggled to earn Rs. 100 crore at box office. It was also criticized by the audience and critics. While SRK fans were quite distressed after Zero, Aanand said that he isn't disappointed. Instead, he took it as a learning. Here's more on what he said.
Aanand: I need to understand what went wrong with 'Zero'
Talking about Zero debacle, Aanand stated that he needed to understand what went wrong with the movie. He asserted that this failure will help him grow as a director. "After making Ranjhaanaa and Tanu Weds Manu and the second one, this film (Zero) was due for me to make," Aanand added. He said he took a flight but didn't land properly.
'Zero' turned out to be a damp squib
Zero was one of the most hyped and expensive movies of 2018. But contrary to the expectations, it turned out to be a damp squib. Apart from SRK, it also featured Anushka Sharma and Katrina Kaif. Zero's lackluster script was blamed for its failure. The negative word of mouth kept viewers away from screens and Zero failed to collect money.
'Zero' couldn't even enter the Rs. 100 crore club
Zero witnessed a decent start at the box office (thanks to the hype) with an opening day collection of Rs. 19.35 crore. However, bad script and negative reviews ruined everything and it witnessed a constant decline in its collections. In the opening weekend, the movie earned Rs. 54.60 crore but by the end of its theatrical run, it could only collect Rs. 90.27 crore.
SRK is a part of Rakesh Sharma's biopic
Meanwhile, SRK is, reportedly, busy preparing for astronaut Rakesh Sharma's biopic, Saare Jahaan Se Achcha. Interestingly, there were reports that SRK walked out of the project and chose to work on Don 3. However, the reports were quashed by writer Anjum Rajabali who stated that SRK is still a part of the movie. The movie will reportedly hit the floors next month.
