'Mahabharata' adaptation, children's content: Aamir Khan reveals ambitious plans
What's the story
Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan recently revealed his desire to make his dream project, a big-screen adaptation of the epic mythological tale Mahabharata, a reality.
Speaking at the ABP Network's Ideas of India 2025 event on Saturday, he also highlighted his desire to make more content for children.
"It is my dream to make 'Mahabharat,' so maybe now I'll be able to think of that dream. Let's see if I'll have a role in it to play," he said.

Speaking about children's content, Khan said, "What excites me is children's content, I believe in India we make lesser children-related content, usually we import that from abroad, dub it here and release it."

Khan's commitment to nurturing new talent and producing films
Khan, who will turn 60 next month, said he wants to nurture new talent in Bollywood through his production ventures.
He said, "As an actor, I do one film at a time and I'm happy with it. I'm trying to do more films as a producer."
"For the next 10 to 15 years I want to do more work and give opportunities to newer talent," he added.

The actor-producer referred to his recent production Laapataa Ladies, which starred newcomers Nitanshi Goel, Pratibha Ranta, and Sparsh Shrivastava.
"I want to produce new kinds of stories and give a platform to talent across the country. I want to make my production house vibrant," he said.
The film was directed by Kiran Rao under Khan's banner Aamir Khan Productions.

Khan's advocacy for writers and cinema expansion in India
Khan, who has starred in movies like Rang De Basanti, Dil Chahta Hai, Lagaan, and 3 Idiots, stressed that writers in the Hindi movie industry need to be recognized and supported more.
He also called for more cinema halls in India to reach a wider audience. "In China, there are more than a lakh cinema halls. We've 10,000 cinema halls," he noted.
Khan will next be seen in Sitaare Zameen Par, which will release by the end of 2025.
