'Maharaja': A period drama based on a true story
The film is reportedly based on a true incident from 1862, and Junaid has extensively prepared for it, also taking help from his background in theater. It is said to be based on the story of Jadunathji Brijratanji Maharaj, a religious leader who had dragged journalist Karsandas Mulji to court for allegedly writing an article against his sect and beliefs.
A huge set has been built for the film
According to reports, a huge set for the movie was built last month in Vijay Nagar in Marol. The film will also feature actors Sharvari Wagh, Shalini Pandey, and Jaideep Ahlawat. Meanwhile, Wagh is gearing up for her Bollywood debut with Yash Raj Films' Bunty Aur Babli 2 in which she will play the female lead opposite actor Siddhant Chaturvedi.
Junaid has been acting in plays for years
Junaid is the son of Aamir and his first wife Reena Dutta. He has been an active member of the Mumbai theater scene, but will face the camera for the first time. He also assisted director Rajkumar Hirani on the superhit comedy film, PK. He acted for his sister Ira as well, who had made her theater directorial debut with a play titled Medea.
