Aamir Khan's Rs. 1,000 crore project 'Mahabharata' gets shelved
'Thugs Of Hindostan' actor Aamir Khan has been creating quite a buzz about his lofty project 'Mahabharata'. It was reported that Mr. Perfectionist was planning to make the movie with a whopping budget of Rs. 1,000 crore, featuring 'Baahubali' star Prabhas in the lead. However, recent report suggests that he has dropped the idea of making 'Mahabharata', for now.
Aamir clears air about 'Mahabharata'
Obviously, the fans were pretty ecstatic about this project, but much to their disappointment the superstar has clarified that he is not making the movie. During a recent media interaction, Aamir stated, "Main Mahabharata nahi bana raha hun. Filhaal main sirf Thugs Of Hindostan pe kaam kar raha hun". That will surely hurt his fans, but he might have a reason for it.
Aamir wanted to play Karna or Krishna
Until last year, Aamir was excited to make 'Mahabharata' and was planning to collaborate with SS Rajamouli for the movie. "I am a huge fan of Rajamouli's work and if he ever plans to make the periodic drama Mahabharata, I'd love to play Krishna or Karna. I might actually go with Krishna," he was quoted as saying.
But, he was apprehensive about his dream project
Despite the excitement, Aamir was also apprehensive about making 'Mahabharata' trilogy as the first part itself would take five years to complete. "My dream project is to make the Mahabharata but I am afraid of starting this project as I know it will consume 15-20 years of my life," he stated. So probably, this is the reason he chose to shelve the movie.
Meanwhile, 'Thugs Of Hindostan' to have a Diwali release
Meanwhile, Aamir's upcoming movie 'Thugs Of Hindostan' is one of the most anticipated movies of the year. Also starring Amitabh Bachchan, Katrina Kaif, Fatima Sana Shaikh, the movie will be hitting the big screen on Diwali, i.e., November 8 this year.
