SRK's father once lost election to Aamir's great-granduncle
A recent Reddit post has revealed an interesting connection between Bollywood superstars Shah Rukh Khan and Aamir Khan. The post, titled "SRK's father and Aamir's great grand uncle's connection," divulged that SRK's late father, Meer Taj Mohammed Khan, had once contested the Lok Sabha elections from Gurgaon in 1957. His opponent was none other than Abul Kalam Azad of Congress, the great grand uncle of Aamir.
Taj Mohammed Khan failed to secure any votes
According to a 2024 Amar Ujala report, the 1957 Lok Sabha elections in Gurgaon saw Azad securing a victory with 1,91,221 votes. His opponent from the Bharatiya Jana Sangh (BJS), Moolchand, received 95,553 votes. However, what stands out in this election is that independent candidate Taj Mohammed Khan did not receive a single vote, creating a unique record in Indian electoral history.
Netizens reacted to the surprising revelation
The Reddit post has since sparked numerous reactions from netizens. One user humorously commented, "The rivalry between the two (Shah Rukh and Aamir) existed before they were even born. I know now why these two don't like each other." Another user quipped, "So the rivalry is generational then... wah (wow)." These comments reference the long-standing rumors of a cold war between SRK and Aamir.
