'Every Indian should watch 'The Kashmir Files',' says Aamir Khan
Vivek Agnihotri's rendition of the exodus of Kashmiri Pandits in his latest film, The Kashmir Files, has been winning hearts ever since it was released on March 11. Without any "hero" leading the film, it has been storming the box office. And, it has now found support in Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan, too. The Dhoom 3 actor opined "every Indian should watch the film."
This is what Khan said at a recent event
To give you context, Khan was attending a press conference on Sunday. There, he was asked to comment on the Agnihotri directorial. Promising that he would "definitely" watch the film, Khan said the "story is a part of our history and whatever happened with the Kashmiri Pandits was really sad." "Any film on such a topic must be seen by all Indians," he added.
What else did Khan say?
Sharing "happiness" about its success, the Rangeela actor heaped praises on The Kashmir Files. "This film has touched the emotions of all people who believe in humanity...that is what is so beautiful about it," Khan noted. Notably, the press conference was for the upcoming film RRR and had Alia Bhatt in attendance. And, Bhatt reportedly nodded in agreement when Khan talked about the Agnihotri-directorial.
Earlier, PM Modi had appreciated the film
Before Khan, the Anupam Kher-led film received praises from the Prime Minister of India himself. After Agnihotri, his wife, actor/producer Pallavi Joshi, and TKF's co-producer Abhishek Agarwal met Narendra Modi, the PM took on the critics of the film at BJP's parliamentary meeting, too. Moreover, many states like Madhya Pradesh, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, and Tripura announced an exemption of entertainment tax on the film.
'The Kashmir Files' has collected over Rs. 192cr worldwide
Kher aside, the film also stars Joshi, Mithun Chakraborty, Darshan Kumaar, Chinmay Mandlekar, Bhasha Sumbli, Puneet Issar, and Atul Srivastava in prominent roles. Despite opening on limited screens, The Kashmir Files has shown extraordinary growth, collecting over Rs. 192cr worldwide in just 10 days of its release. Meanwhile, Khan is gearing up for the release of his much-awaited Laal Singh Chaddha on August 11.
