Aamir Khan refutes political affiliation; lodges FIR against fake video
Bollywood actor and filmmaker Aamir Khan is currently embroiled in a controversy surrounding a deepfake video linked to the upcoming Lok Sabha election. The video, which has been widely circulated online, seemingly shows Khan endorsing a specific political party and warning against Jumlas (insincere promises). However, the actor's official representative has categorically denied these allegations, asserting that Khan has always maintained "political neutrality" throughout his 35-year career.
Khan's representative dismissed deepfake video as 'untrue'
In response to the controversial video, Khan's representative issued a statement denying the actor's involvement in any political endorsement. "We want to clarify that Mr. Aamir Khan has never endorsed any political party throughout his 35-year career." The spokesperson also dismissed the video as "fake" and "entirely untrue," emphasizing that the actor instead focuses on raising public awareness through the Election Commission's public awareness campaigns and has done so in many past elections.
Khan took legal action against the misleading video
Reacting to the misleading video, "Khan has taken legal action by filing an FIR with the Cyber Crime Cell of the Mumbai Police," the statement mentioned. Further, it said, "Mr. Khan would like to urge all Indians to come out and vote and be an active part of our electoral process." Meanwhile, discrepancies in the video indicated tampering, as lip movements did not match the spoken words. Despite these inconsistencies, the video gained significant traction on social media.
A quick look at Khan's upcoming ventures
Professionally, Khan is gearing up for his return to the silver screen with two upcoming projects. He is set to star in RS Prasanna's Sitaare Zameen Par, alongside Genelia D'Souza.
