Yami Gautam looks convincing as psychotic kidnapper in 'A Thursday'
The trailer for A Thursday has been released on Thursday. Led by Yami Gautam Dhar, the 2:20-minute-long clip shows us a little more than the teaser that was released on Wednesday. In the trailer, the actor plays an intelligent playschool teacher who takes 16 toddlers hostage one day. The thriller, directed by Behzad Khambata of Blank fame, hits Disney+ Hotstar on February 17.
So, what does the trailer show?
The trailer starts with Gautam Dhar calling the Colaba police station to inform about the hostage situation. The following frames show us Neha Dhupia's entry as the ACP who tries to negotiate with Gautam Dhar but fails. Then, police inspector Javed Khan (Atul Kulkarni) enters and Gautam Dhar places her demands: Rs. 5cr and a chance to speak to the prime minister (Dimple Kapadia).
How were the actors in the trailer?
Right from the first scene, Gautam Dhar's tone, demeanor, and aggression make you uncomfortable. She looks convincing as a kidnapper and builds anticipation for the film. Dhupia's role of a woman in charge looks repetitive as she has done such roles in the past, too. Kulkarni, as usual, is natural on celluloid, while Kapadia as the prime minister looks graceful and controlled.

What Gautam Dhar said about her character, Naina
Talking of her "distinct" character, Gautam Dhar said, "I have never ever played such a distinct character like Naina! She projects so many diverse emotions." "I have really put in a lot of effort to portray her in different shades. She is a teacher, who always looks after the children and she has taken them hostage, transforming her from a protector to a threat."
Film backed by RSVP Movies, Blue Monkey Films
