Things to know before you start 'Stranger Things' Season 3
The much-awaited third season of Stranger Things is finally here on your nearest mobile and computer screens. Before you dive in and experience that inexplicable joy of binge-watching this favorite show of yours, and finish it one go, read this refresher on the popular sci-fi thriller. Here are some important things you need to know before starting to watch Stranger Things Season 3.
This is what has happened in the series till now
Without going into too many details, the first season had the kids rescuing their friend from the upside down and battling the Demogorgon. The second season replaced the Demogorgon with Demodogs, Mind Flayer and gave us more insight into Eleven's powers. All the kids have grown up considerably now. Eleven and Mike are now a couple and Hopper is like a father-figure to her.
Here's the plot synopsis for the third season
The synopsis says, "It's 1985 in Hawkins, Indiana, and summer's heating up... When the town's threatened by enemies old and new, Eleven and her friends are reminded that evil never ends; it evolves. Now they'll have to band together to survive, and remember that friendship is always stronger than fear." Basically, the season has new locations, characters, and worse threats amid changing relationship dynamics.
Several new actors have joined the main cast
Just like the previous season, some new actors have joined the main cast this time as well. Cary Elwes will play Mayor Kline, a possible gray character and Jake Busey will play the role of a journalist with a "sick sense of humor." Maya Hawke (daughter of Ethan Hawke and Uma Thurman) has joined the younger cast with Francesca Reale.
This season will only have eight episodes
As far as the episode names suggest, there is a lot of variety, story-wise, in this season. From the first episode Suzie, Do You Copy? to the subsequent The Mall Rats, The Case of the Missing Lifeguard, The Sauna Test, The Source, The Birthday, The Bite, and The Battle of Starcourt, the third season, although short, will be a roller-coaster ride through and through.
This could be the penultimate season of the show
All good things have to end someday. While there has been no official confirmation but reports strongly suggest that Stranger Things could end with its fourth season. A statement from executive producer Shawn Levy said, "The truth is we are definitely going four seasons and there is very much the possibility of a fifth. Beyond that, it becomes I think very unlikely."
