'A Minecraft Movie': Plot and production details revealed
The official synopsis reads, "Welcome to the world of Minecraft, where creativity doesn't just help you craft, it's essential to one's survival!" "Four misfits—Garrett 'The Garbage Man' Garrison (Momoa), Henry (Hansen), Natalie (Myers), and Dawn (Brooks)—find themselves struggling with ordinary problems when they are suddenly pulled through a mysterious portal into the Overworld: a bizarre, cubic wonderland that thrives on imagination." The film is directed by Jared Hess and produced by Roy Lee, and Jon Berg.

The film also stars Kate McKinnon and Jemaine Clement. The creative team behind the camera includes director of photography Enrique Chediak. Minecraft is the best-selling video game of all time, having sold more than 300M copies worldwide since its release in 2011 by Mojang Studios. A Minecraft Movie is slated for international release on April 2, 2025, followed by a North American theatrical and IMAX release on April 4, 2025.
