7 times Salman's movies did wonders on Eid
The release of a Salman Khan film on the occasion of Eid has almost become a ritual now. Each year, Bhai treats his fans with a mega release that they can enjoy with their entire family. This time, the superstar is bringing us a musical-action bonanza in the form of 'Race 3'. Before its release, let's have a look at Salman's 7 biggest Eid hits.
One of Bhai's best performances
'Sultan' marked the maiden collaboration between Salman and Ali Abbas Zafar who then went on to deliver another blockbuster - 'Tiger Zinda Hai'. Released on Eid in 2016, the wrestling-drama received a thumbs up from the critics as well as the audience. Co-starring Anushka Sharma, the film did a massive business of Rs. 300.45 crore at the box office.
A film for all ages
Kabir Khan's 'Bajrangi Bhaijaan' proved a landmark in Salman's career. It silenced the critics who called him a non-actor. Featuring Kareena Kapoor Khan, Harshali Malhotra and Nawazuddin Siddiqui, it became Salman's first film to enter the Rs. 300 crore club. 'Bajrangi Bhaijaan' amassed a massive Rs. 320.34 crore upon its release in 2015.
Salman's maiden Rs. 200 crore grosser
Released in 2014, 'Kick' marked Salman's entry into the Rs. 200 crore club. Aamir Khan and Shah Rukh Khan had already invaded the elite club with '3 Idiots' (2009) and 'Chennai Express' (2013) respectively. Directed by Sajid Nadiadwala, the film also starred Jacqueline Fernandez and Nawazuddin Siddiqui and did a business of Rs. 231.85 crore. Its sequel is in the works at present.
Salman's action avatar bowled the audience over
This was the first time that Salman did a movie under Aditya Chopra's Yash Raj Films, therefore, the expectations were humongous. Upon its release on Eid in 2012, the film 'Ek Tha Tiger' took the box office by storm and did a business of Rs. 198.78 crore to emerge an all-time blockbuster. 'Ek Tha Tiger' had Katrina Kaif in the female lead.
Salman mania at its peak
Back in 2011, when entering the Rs. 100 crore club was a distant dream for other films, Salman's 'Bodyguard' zoomed past the mark with utmost ease within days of its release. Directed by Siddique and co-starring Kareena Kapoor Khan and Hazel Keech, the film clocked Rs. 148.86 crore at the box office.
The film that gave us Chulbul Pandey
Salman redefined stardom with 'Dabangg' in 2010. Till date, Chulbul Pandey remains Bhai's most beloved on-screen character. Produced by Arbaaz Khan and directed by Abhinav Kashyap, 'Dabangg' earned Rs. 138.88 crore at the ticket windows. It also marked the Bollywood debut of Sonakshi Sinha. The third installment of the series is currently in works and is expected to be out next year.
Prabhudheva brought Salman back in the game
Before the release of 'Wanted', Salman was going through a rough patch. Most of his films were box office duds and the critics had started to write him off. But, his fortunes took a swift turn after he starred in the Prabhudheva film. Released in 2009, 'Wanted' gave a new direction to Bhai's Bollywood career. Its lifetime collection stood at Rs. 61 crore.
