Sonu Sood is an Indian film actor, producer, model, philanthropist, and humanitarian born on July 30, 1973. He predominantly appears in Hindi, Telugu, and Tamil movies. Sood started his career in 1999 with the Tamil films 'Kallazhagar' and 'Nenjinile'. The role of Pasupathi in the 2009 Telugu horror fantasy film 'Arundathi' won him the Andhra Pradesh State Nandi Award for Best Villain as well as the Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actor – Telugu. He made his Kannada debut in 2011 with P Kumar's comedy-thriller 'Vishnuvardhana'. He is best known for his roles in films such as 'Yuva', 'Aashiq Banaya Aapne', 'Jodhaa Akbar', ' Shootout at Wadala', 'Athadu', 'Ashok', 'Dookodu', 'Simmba', 'Kung Fu Yoga', and 'Happy New Year', among others. Sood launched his production house named Shakti Sagar Productions in 2016. In September 2020, he was conferred with the prestigious SDG Special Humanitarian Action Award by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) for his humanitarian efforts during the COVID-19 pandemic crisis.
